Mister Reusch — illustrator

By Josh

Mark “Mister” Reusch is one of UNBORED art director and designer Tony Leone‘s team’s three secret weapons. (Heather Kasunick and Chris Piascik are the other two.) The photo above shows him at work in his studio. He drew over half the illustrations in UNBORED; when he weighed all his sketches and final images for the project, they amounted to over eight pounds!

Mister Reusch, who teaches illustration at Massachusetts College of Art & Design in Boston, has made illustrations for Burton Snowboards, Harmonix Rock Band, StrideRite, and others; and he has work featured in books about rock poster art and tattoo designs. Here’s his website. And here are a couple of his illustrations from UNBORED:

Mister Reusch lives in Haverhill, Mass., with his girlfriend and their Boston Terriers, Frankenstein and Mr. Giles (a one-eyed, Hurricane Katrina refugee, pictured below). Both dogs appear in UNBORED, as does Champster, a hamster who recently passed away. Champster is on a kid’s tee-shirt on p. 51, and for a while he was going to be on the book’s cover. We’ll let you find the Boston Terriers in the book.
